The Abu Dhabi School of Government, ADSG, has launched the Government Employment Charter, GEC, a workshop programme designed for employees of the Abu Dhabi Government, in the city of Al Ain, in line with its commitment to fulfill Abu Dhabi’s aspirations towards government excellence.

Over 350 employees from 12 government entities are set to participate in workshops, following a successful pilot in Abu Dhabi since 2018.

Developed specifically for government employees across Abu Dhabi, the programme introduces the principles of government service and basic professional workplace conduct.

It will also introduce them to the provisions of the charter, developed to ensure all government employees perform their work according to established priorities, aligning the nation’s wider ambitions with the local community’s interests.

The programme encourages knowledge-sharing and the exchange of expertise among employees, while promoting their abilities to efficiently and competently lead the government service ecosystem today and in the future, furthering the achievements of the government sector in Abu Dhabi.

The workshops include interactive sessions combined with group activities, panel discussions and practical experiences that reflect the charter's five principles – Loyalty, Excellence & Pioneering, Efficiency & Effectiveness, Personal and Public Responsibility, and Integrity.

The programme will train employees on positive behaviours based on these principles, so they can overcome the challenges they may face in their personal and professional lives.

Commenting on the occasion, Alia Abdulla Al Mazrouei, Acting Director-General of ADSG, said, "The launch of the Government Employment Charter in Al Ain today reaffirms our commitment to the vision of the Founding Father of the UAE, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

We have pledged, both to ourselves and to our wise leadership, to represent the UAE in the best possible way, with government employees reflecting the main principles of the charter in their workplaces."

The ADSG aims to enroll around 30,000 employees in the GEC programme, equipping them with the principles, skills and behaviours that will enable them to carry out their work according to the highest standards, while promoting Abu Dhabi as a hub for government excellence and driving the vision for the emirate towards sustainable, open economy.
