The Al Ain Cultural Programme, organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, DCT Abu Dhabi, is offering a wide array of events and activities in Al Ain this month.

On Sunday, 10th November, music lovers can attend a special military band performance at historic Al Jahili Fort. The programme has been organised in conjunction with the General Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police, to showcase their wind instruments (bagpipes) and drums. These instruments have been modified to serve as part of official protocol and to honour visiting royalty, presidents and dignitaries.

Additional events taking place this month include ‘My Old House’, a recurring programme which offers guided tours of beautiful historic homes in Al Ain, showcasing their architectural features and telling the stories and memories of their residents. Daily from 17th to 24th November, visitors will be able to explore the house of Colonel Juma bin Rahma Al Darmaki, in the Hili district of Al Ain.

Qasr Al Muwaiji’s regular programming continues this month, with ‘Characters from the 20th Century’ on 17th November and the Royal Bisht workshop happening on 19th November. DCT Abu Dhabi is organising ‘Cultural Connection’, a series of cultural activities and workshops at the Al Ain Palace Museum on 21st and 22nd November demonstrating the rich cultural diversity of the UAE, in line with the values of The Year of Tolerance.

The ‘Cultural Connection’ activities are suitable for all ages, and will highlight the significance of cultural heritage and the importance of continuously exchanging knowledge and expertise, in order to preserve and protect heritage practices for future generations. In addition, ‘Cultural Connection’ will spotlight a wide array of traditional performing arts from diverse countries including UAE, Egypt, Palestine, Lebanon, Russia, India and China, as well as from regions of Africa.
